In 19th-century America, the capitalist economy was rapidly developing, and one of the financial giants of the time — John Pierpont Morgan — was a collector with a wide range of interests. One of his most significant collections was gemstones, which were so abundant that after his death, the American Museum of Natural History created a "Morgan Gem Memorial Hall" in his honor. In 1910, renowned mineralogist George Kunz discovered an exquisite pink gemstone in Madagascar. As the sponsor of the expedition, the gem was named after Morgan and was called morganite in English.  Since then, morganite has gradually emerged as a young member of the gemstone family.
