Between 35 million and 60 million years ago, the collision between the Eurasian and Indian continents triggered tectonic movements, leading to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Under high pressure, magma intruded into ultrabasic rocks, and the residual granite magma underwent desilication, giving rise to the long geological process of jadeite formation. According to historical records, in 1215, the Burmese chieftain Shanlongpa accidentally discovered a drum-shaped blue jade on a riverbank. Captivated by its beauty, he built a city nearby and named it “Mogok,” meaning “Drum City.” This place later became the birthplace of jadeite, witnessing countless jadeite legends.
